Between 1989 and 1995, 55 child care centres were opened in new school buildings. These centres are
independently operated by incorporated community agencies and boards of directors.
Centres in secondary schools provide care for infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers.
Centres in elementary schools may provide care for children up to the age of 12 years.
Before and After school programs are operated in elementary schools where a need for care has been identified. These programs run both morning and afternoon throughout the school year. Full day care is available during Professional Activity days, March Break and may be offered throughout the summer.These programs provide care for children aged 5 to 12 years.
